City of Upper Sandusky – Trash & Recycling Guide


Curbside Cleanup Guidelines

  • No containers or boxes over 50 pounds.
  • Mattresses and cloth furniture must be wrapped in plastic and secured.
    • Plastic bags can be purchased at Rall Supply and Pfeifer Hardware.
  • Window and door frames must have glass removed. Place glass in cans or boxes (not bags).
  • No loose trash will be collected. Items must be bagged, boxed, or bundled and light enough for one person to lift.
  • Items from evictions, move-outs, or foreclosures will not be collected (responsibility of the property owner).

Excluded Items

  • Anything over 50 pounds or too bulky for one person
  • Liquid waste
  • Appliances
  • Computer equipment
  • Motor oil
  • Paints
  • Televisions
  • Tires
Construction or demolition debris (use a City dumpster for these materials)

Special Charges

  • $12 for each couch, mattress, or box spring
  • $6 for each chair
Dumpster Rentals

Dumpsters are available to the public at any time.

Recycling Collection


The City of Upper Sandusky provides weekly curbside recycling on your regular garbage collection day. All recyclables are processed at the Wyandot County Recycling Center.

Red Recycling Container

Recycling is simple and convenient with the City’s Red Recycling Bin:

  • Required for all recycling participants (per City Council).
  • Clearly mark your address on the bin.
  • Please make sure bins are out before 6:00 AM on collection day.

Accepted Recyclables

  • Newspapers & Magazines – Bag separately, place beside bin.
  • Glass Jars & Bottles – Must be separated from other items. Separate by color, rinse clean. (No mirrors, ceramics, light bulbs, or window glass.)
  • Plastics #1 & #2 & #5
  • Aluminum Beverage Cans – Rinse and flatten (if possible).
  • Steel Food Cans – Rinse and flatten (if possible) (no aerosol cans).

Items Not Collected Curbside

  • Cardboard
  • Chipboard
  • Televisions

Additional Information

Red Bins are available for $13 (cash or check only) at the Utility Department – 419-294-3863.

Wyandot Recycling Center hours:

Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM–Noon
Sunday: Closed

Services include electronics recycling, aluminum can buy-back, and rotating weekend drives.
